Techweek is partnering with Paige & Paxton, a compelling educational curriculum focused on early STEM learning.

Paige & Paxton Make-a-thons are a national movement of fun, intentionally crafted events where children, ages 4-7, test their mettle in Science, Engineering, Technology and Math challenges based on characters and storylines from the Paige & Paxton book series. STEM challenges are led by local scientists, engineers, and technologists who guide students through problem solving, scientific thinking and engineering design.

The kids participating hail from Augustus Tolton Catholic Academy, a new Catholic school located in the Park Manor community on the southside of Chicago, is an innovative and forward-thinking learning community. The Tolton Academy is the first elementary school in the Archdiocese of Chicago to implement a STREAM curriculum. A focus on Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Math sets us apart as an academically strong and spiritually rooted learning community.

Kids will discover that technology is more than smartphones, computers and apps. It’s all the gadgets and machines that we use every day like cars and even skateboards. Kids will experience the rewards and sense of accomplishment that comes from tinkering, operating and building ”machines” that really work with their very own hands.
